PAHS Student Services Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide a comprehensive, structured, and cooperative program to foster academic, career, and personal/social growth for all students in a safe and joyful learning environment with high expectations, in order to assist them on their unique paths toward success and fulfillment of their potential. We commit to partnership with all stakeholders and to a community of respect that values each student’s perspective and contributions. Our program is also committed to evidence-based practices.

Our vision is a school community of cooperative partnership, where all members of this family are safe, respected, and valued; where all students graduate prepared for productivity, fulfillment of their potential, continued growth; and making positive impacts in their future academic, career, personal, and social endeavors; and where students are active participants in their education as well as self-motivated, hard-working, accountable, able to problem-solve, resilient, and kind; and where our program works toward eliminating opportunity and achievement gaps.

Phoenix Academy High School[sic] mission is to provide students with a highly structured, cooperative environment that assures academic achievement, promotes personal motivation, and renews active participation in their educational process so students can transition successfully to post-secondary educational and career opportunities that provide for well-balanced lives within the broader community.

PAHS School Vision

Phoenix Academy High School believes that all students can achieve educational excellence in a positive, challenging educational environment, which stimulates their interests, channels their energies, and develops their abilities.  Phoenix Academy High School strives to value each student’s perspective (including racial and cultural perspective).    
Phoenix Academy High School believes each student should be accepted and treated with dignity and respect.  This non-traditional school uses as an educational model “brain-based learning” so there is no way that a student can be marginalized or have lower expectations because of race, school history or anything else

CHCCS School Counseling Mission Statement

The mission of the CHCCS Counseling Department is to provide a comprehensive school counseling program that addresses the academic, career, and social/emotional development of all students in a safe and joyful learning environment. The School Counselors, in partnership with stakeholders, commit to providing evidence-based supports to empower student growth and build skills to develop to their fullest potential.

CHCCS School Counseling Vision Statement

All Chapel Hill-Carrboro City School students are global leaders who are empowered to be lifelong learners. Students participate in a rigorous curriculum that encourages innovation, excitement for learning, and personal growth. The CHCCS comprehensive school counseling program supports all students and fosters partnerships between students, staff, families, and community members in order to eliminate the opportunity and achievement gaps and equip[sic] all students to achieve their full potential.

CHCCS School Counseling Program Beliefs

This vision is based on the following beliefs:

  • School Counselors adhere to the American School Counselor Association Ethical Standards. 
  • All students have unique strengths and can grow academically, socially, and emotionally given high and clear expectations.
  • School counselors are advocates for equity for all students; they work to eliminate race as a predictor of achievement and remove barriers to educational access for all.
  • School counselors address student needs by serving a unique and vital leadership role as facilitators of clear communication and collaboration among administration, teachers, and families.
  • School counselors and stakeholders evaluate data to improve academic, career, and social emotional outcomes for students to thrive.
  • The journey toward career and college readiness begins with a student focused, data driven, comprehensive curriculum based on developmental needs.
