Mr. Matt Harkey (School Counselor)

Matt Harkey joins Phoenix Academy as a school counselor after nearly fifteen years in that role at Northern HS in neighboring Durham and up the road at Carrboro HS. Matt grew up in Gastonia, NC before matriculating at UNC-Chapel Hill. There, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy. He Then attended Carolina’s School Counseling graduate program, pursuing his passion for working with young people during this uniquely formative period of their lives. He lives in the area with his wife and two children and love sports, the outdoors, and reading. Matt is thrilled to join the PAHS team and looks forward to accomplishing a lot in partnership with the students, families, and staff of this community.

Mrs. Kechia Harper (School Social Worker)

Mrs. Anne Levin (Mental Health Specialist)

Anne Levin, LCSW, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with A Masters Degree in Social Work from The University of Maryland with a clinical concentration on children and families. Ms Levin joined the Phoenix team in fall of 2021 as our Mental Health Specialist. Ms Levin brings a wealth of clinical experience to Phoenix Academy, with over twenty years of experience in a variety of settings, including juvenile justice, residential treatment, community mental health, and education. Prior to joining Phoenix Academy, Ms. Levin worked with Cardinal Innovations, as a Behavioral Health Care Manager, coordinating care for families whose children were admitted to psychiatric residential treatment facilities. In addition, Ms. Levin worked for Orange, Person and Chatham Mental Health as a Department of Juvenile Justice Mental Health Liaison where she provided administration and oversight of Juvenile Justice Substance Abuse and Mental Health Grant (JJSAMPH). Ms Levin uses a strength-based approach to working with children and families and is skilled in cognitive behavioral therapy, care management, assessment, advocacy and individual and family therapy.

Ms. Aaliyah King (Receptionist, Data Manager, Bookkeeper)

Ms. King has been in the educational field for over 13+ years, having served as a Teacher Assistant at Frank Porter Graham Elementary School, and Rashkis Elementary School, Afterschool Group Leader in Durham Public Schools, and Daycare Provider for 5 years. Ms. King has an associate degree in Fine Arts in Visual Arts from Durham Technical Community College. She has been with Phoenix Academy for 2 years.
